19 jan 2012: No Comments from Mitsubishi South Africa were recieved up to date for placement on the web. However they wrote a short letter stating that I must pay for the repairs since they are not covered by the guarantee. Apparently I only asked them to change the Engine Control Unit and not to check for water in the oil. For some reason, the fact that the Engine Control Unit was wet did not indicate to them that they should check the oil. Neither did the fact that they drained the diesel because they noticed there was water in it. Not even the fact that they informed us that they had found water in the diesel, prompted them to check the oil. The fact of the matter is that I took the vehicle there not for replacement of any particular spare part, but to get the vehicle repaired after it was flooded in Botswana. Engine Control Units, checking for water in oil and heart transplants are all strange topics for me and not my specialities. I buy only new vehicles and I always take them back to the dealer for service and repairs. I never instructed them to check oil or whatever units. I expected them to do it automatically as would any person who takes their vehicle in for repairs. I will leave this argument for the courts of South Africa with great confidence and will report in full once they have made their ruling. The full text of the summons will be placed as soon as it is ready for delivery. |
